Welcome to the global web presence of The African World, a public affairs television talk show hosted by Kwame Clement on MHz, a Public Television station in the United States. The program is aired every Sunday at 4:30 pm EST.
We are launched at an exciting time in Africa’s history. The stirrings of democracy in many places across the Continent have profoundly altered, for the better, the relationships between people and government. Advances in technology have the potential for helping an entire continent not only jumpstart but skip intermediary steps in the development process. The Continent has gained sudden and growing importance in the geo-strategic outlooks of major powers, desperate for new sources of raw materials to sustain their growth engines.
Out of the confluence of these trends and events we see a great opportunity to watch, analyze, report, and make reasonable extrapolations about how the events of today will shape the course of Africa’s future.
Our goal therefore is to do more than merely report stories from and about Africa. We want to provide context, analysis, and perspective so that you understand the people and forces that shape the stories we report.
Our talk show TV Program, “The African World,” affords us a unique opportunity for pursuing this goal. It allows you to hear first hand from our guests, all of whom are deeply knowledgeable about Africa or how specific policy approach, trends and ideas can impact the Continent for better or worse.
We invite you to visit us regularly and play an active role in what will certainly be, we hope, a forum for a useful dialogue about Africa—a starting point for an honest, open, and constructive debate about the Continent and its prospects for the future. |
