SAMUEL ETO’O
Cameroonian International Soccer Player
Samuel Eto’o does one thing as a soccer player: he sets records. He holds the record in number of appearance by an African in La Liga, the top flight league in Spanish soccer, where in 5 years, he scored 100 goals for the champions, Barcelona. In 2010, he became the first player in Europe to win two Continental Trebles-wining the top two titles in a domestic league plus the UEFA Championship following his success with Barcelona in 2009 and with Italian side Internazionale in 2010.
Eto’o is also the second player to score in two separate UEFA Champions League Finals. He is the most decorated African player of all time, having won the African Player of the Year award a record four times (2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010).
He won the 2000 Olympic Soccer Tournament with his national side, Cameroon, and is the all time leading scorer in the history of the African Nations Cup, scoring 18 goals in the tournament and winning the title twice with his country’s national team.
The Cameroonian established perhaps the greatest record, at least financially, of all time in soccer when he signed a contract on August 23, 2011 with Anzhi Makhachkala of the Russian League, which will pay him over $25 Million a year after taxes for three years.
